Janet Hill Studio

A Mystery Lady- Open Edition Print
"Janet Hill discovered her passion for painting as a teenager. With the support of her family and teachers, Janet earned a degree in Fine Art from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, where she specialized in oil painting and graduated with honors. Following graduation, she spent several years working in fields unrelated to art. Deeply missing her creative life, she decided to take a leap of faith and paint full-time. She has never looked back.
Janet enjoys painting the beauty of women, interiors, and still-life. Her choice of subject matter ranges from a duchess satin gown to a humble bowl of cereal. She seeks out glamour and beauty in everything that surrounds her. Her work is displayed in private collections throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Some of Janet's corporate clients include Tiffany & Co., American Greetings, and Harper Collins. Her work has also been featured on Design Sponge, This Is Glamorous, The Neo-Traditionalist, and Oh Joy! Janet lives in the beautiful city of Stratford, Ontario, Canada. She paints in a small in-house studio where she lives with her husband John, and their cat and dog."

i too saw the reflection of the summer sky in the water
"Born in 1980 and raised in a world of latchkeys, comic books, and urban exploration, Sacramento-based artist Jeff Felker weaves those early inspirations into the visual narratives he creates today. Exploring themes reformulated from life and his formal background in literature, he creates narrative paintings that blend reality and dreamscape--the human figures within are located in conflicted worlds of emotional isolation. Using oil to juxtapose bright and muted color schemes, Jeff executes his paintings on canvas and board.
Jeff has been interested in writing and literature from a young age, which shows in the narrative qualities of his paintings, as well as his scholarly pursuits. He received an MA in English Literature from California State University, Sacramento in 2009, and currently teaches English at American River College. The themes he encounters in literature continue to permeate throughout his simultaneous pursuit and love of painting."

"I have been doing something with my hands all of my life. I love making things. I guess I inherited this from my mother who was still stitching at 96. Everyone in the family has something that was "made by Mom" and I hope to continue this heritage. I am now 72 so if I follow in my mother's footsteps I still have a few years left!"

Flying Woman Studio

Texas Longhorn Christmas Stocking, Burnt Orange and White with a "Jester-style" Cuff and Ink-Dyed Bells
"I am a self-taught sewist, quilter, embroiderer, painter, crafter, mixed media artist, and artistic explorer. I love to experiment with materials I have on hand to create new uses for them.
I have never passed by a new fabric store or art supply store without stopping. My car and my feet naturally turn toward thrift stores, antique stores, garage and estate sales, junque shoppes, etc., and naturally I just go along.
My best friends save things for me to use in my projects like tea bags, wrapping paper, maps, bottle caps, and even rusty stuff (for rust-dyed fabric).
My husband is not surprised that I take my camera to the farmers' market and that I end up bringing home more photographs of vegetables and fruits than the actual vegetables and fruits.
My studio is taking over my living space, and that seems to be working out really well for me; and it is really, REALLY well-organized -- so much so that I often can't find a thing.
Oh, and I just started roller skating again after more than 20 years off the wheels."

call IT courtney

Vintage-retro tinsel ornament/face wreath
"I'm all about the thrill of the hunt. I canvas thrift stores, estate sales, and even those sketchy antique stores that no girl in her right mind would walk into alone. I'm looking for that one awesome thing that is irrevocably unique. I think the pc term for what I make is vintage altered art assemblage. But let me break it down...I find cool old stuff and make it into cool new stuff.
While some of my pieces might bare a striking family resemblance, because they're vintage by nature, they're truly one of a kind. What I find determines what I make, so it's hard to pin point what's next in the repertoire. You can sometimes call IT kitschy, sometimes call IT shabby, sometimes call IT retro, but you can always call IT courtney."

Christmas Napkins in RED Linen Set of 6 Merry Christmas Typography
"Hello there! I am a stay~at~home~mom of six great kids. What a crazy, wonderful life! Some up, some down. But, no matter what, my family is the most important thing in my life.
I've been sewing since I was a little girl. My Grandpa got me a sewing machine of my own when I was 10 and I have been hooked ever since. Wow, was that really 28 years ago?? More recently my husband bought me an embroidery machine. This machine has really opened up a whole new world for me.
One day I asked myself what I could do to earn a little money and stay busy. I found etsy through a friend and was excited! I never thought there would ever be an outlet for making money doing what I enjoy. Sewing! So, why embroidered linens? With my family of six kids there is no way I can put linen on my table! I guess this is my way of trying to make someone else's table beautiful. Just to work with the fabric and package it up pretty makes me feel happy. Someday I can use beautiful linens on my own table but for now I will be content with all of the tables in the world that are made beautiful because of my handiwork!
My oldest daughter has started helping me with my work. She trims threads, makes labels, and presses the edges of the linens prior to my hemming them. We are having fun working together and I love being able to teach her something about what I love to do. ♥"

Timo Handmade

Christmas tartan Beaded Lady Doll Wearing tartan plaid red Green dress, Beads , Buttons & socks - handmade cloth doll
"My collection of fabric scraps and knick knacks took shape by itself
A small case of multicolored threads I once inherited
A well-loved shirt, wrong sized, I couldn’t pass on for its magnificent texture
A jar of buttons, no relation to one another whatsoever
A handkerchief with grandpa's initials
An embroidered pillow cover, hole included
A romantic dress once found in a second hand shop abroad...
The desire to sew these together, to make something new, was born of the materials themselves.
TIMO is a small design line, all hand-made.
sewn with an eye for detail and a touch for fabric.
Being hand-made, each and every item is one of a kind.
TIMO is part of the EcoDesign trend, standing up for the right consumption and the right manufacturing, alongside
recycling, minimization of manufacturing waste and simplification of processes.
The objects' design is current and classic, but the methods of manufacture are traditional.
The materials are mostly recycled, or scraps of designers' fabrics.
Scraps of fabric piled up in the studio are used later either as stuffing or as material for other products.
TIMO is a collection, a game and a source of livelihood, all taking place in Timor's own home."

Scottie Archival Print
"I live in Vermont in a very beautiful, but moody climate. Half of the year is pastoral and like a dream. The other half can be trying. The season changes are charming and interesting, but winter could stand to let up a little earlier than she does.
I have always been artistic, and as a child, drew page after page of girls with different outfits on, and animals in clothes(inspired by Beatrix Potter of course). But it took me years and years to know myself well enough to pick up a paintbrush and let my imagination flow through the paint.
Watercolors really grew on me and I loved the way the flow of ideas from my head and heart flowed directly onto the paper. Watercolors are interesting in that you have to become friends with the water, work WITH it, corral it into doing what you want it to do on the paper.
I recently had a children's book published with my illustrations. It was published by a Vermont Publisher, Radiant Hen, http://www.radianthen.com.
The book is entitled "Ninny Nu's Organic Farm" and all of the characters are animals. It tells a story about how bigger is not always necessarily better. :)
I am so thankful for a venue like Etsy. Every day, I am inspired and amazed by the creative minds I see at work here.
When I am not painting, packing orders or curating treasuries on Etsy (the closest I'll ever get to being a museum curator), I am entertaining and playing with my two nutty poodles, Olin and Izzy, and my sometimes nutty husband, John :) I like running, gardening, art, food, wine, and funny people:)
I hope you enjoy my work. I try to convey my love of animals and maybe inspire others to love them as I do :) "

The Shopkeeper's House [Explored]

The shopkeeper worked through the night while his wife and children slept one floor below. Obligation forecast, quarterly allotment, cash flow, debts, revenues … obligation forecast, quarterly allotment, cash flow, debts, revenues over and over until it became painfully clear … the numbers did not lie … he was broke. He could hear the birds rustling in the trees outside his window. The inevitable was near. At sunrise, the Banker and the Sheriff would knock on his door one last time, tell him he had five minutes to collect his personal possessions and vacate the premises.

Tiny Bouquet necklace
"With an independent streak that seems to extend beyond anyone's sight line, I have always needed to do my own thing. I was lucky to find the love of someone (my husband, Paul) who fully supports my wild, independent streak and actually encourages it. I took a long break from creating jewelry when our son, Cody, was a baby because I wanted to dedicate my time to him. Once he was in school full-time, the pull to return to my jeweler's bench was nearly overwhelming. With the discovery of the wonderful online handmade venues and the near instant first saleÃ, when I listed a pair of my sapling earrings, I was off and running again and Paul and Cody both were my biggest supporters! That was nearly four years ago and I have been going strong ever since. I spend my weekdays working away soldering, stamping, sawing and oxidizing metal in my studio and my evenings and weekends with my family. Having a home studio maintains the freedom to balance my time with my family and be able to be there for anything that life throws at us all the while being able to live my life as an artist. I realize this makes me one of the luckiest people alive!"

Aurum Jewelry

Ring - 14k Gold And Peridot Gemstone Ring
"Aurum Jewelry was founded in 2010 when my passion for fine craftsmanship and jewelry design were combined.
I fell in love with jewelry-making and the arts a long time ago, but it took me a while before I actually started designing and creating my own art. I enjoy art and history which are the chief sources of my inspiration when creating jewelry. The jewelry is designed to have a clean and simple look as I respect the materials that I work with.
All of the jewelry is one-of-a-kind, hand crafted, using silver or gold (14k, 18k, 22k or 24k) in conjunction with precious stones, gems and ancient coins. I strive to preserve the natural, unprocessed and non-synthetic appearance and properties of the resources that I work with so that they remain true and accurate. I take pleasure in the unity of old and new - luxurious precious stones, ancient stones and coins - with their authentic finish, to achieve a modern urban look."

Roberta Polfus Porcelain

Porcelain gourd teapot in orange & tan with black pillow
"I have always been attracted to natural objects, at least as long as my clothing has had pockets. My carved and sometimes gestural pieces are intimate forms that fit and feel good in the hand. While they are generally not representations of actual objects, they reflect the shapes, patterns, colors and surfaces that I am drawn to in nature—the petals of an apple blossom, the grooves of a spindle shell, the pattern of a hosta leaf or the texture of a weathered rock all inform and inspire my work.
I was introduced to porcelain about 11 years ago and we’ve been inseparable since then. I use a combination of wheel thrown and handbuilt forms that are altered, carved and sprigged. With a variety of airbrushed matte and gloss glazes that enhance the surfaces, the pieces are fired in a gas kiln, cone 10 reduction, around 2345 F.
I have many works in process and will be adding them as they come out of the kiln. Each one I've listed is made individually by hand by me."

Mary Elizabeth Arts

Festive White Tree on Red Glass Vase
"Introducing my organically designed line of dinnerware. I invite you to celebrate your next meal as an art-filled experience, toasting to the slow delight of “a fine palate.”
Food, wine and art are central in my life. I love the texture of paints, the nuance of light that shimmers through the layers of paint as much as I love the pure flavors and textures of fresh, organic food.
Today, it seems that we are tempted to live without any of those things. We live fast and cheap. We eat mass produced foods from ugly, disposable plates. We rarely go to art museums or galleries to see the beauty of original works, but settle for cheap prints that reproduce the colors, but lose the soul.
It has become my passion and profession to restore the art of a simple meal by offering hand painted ceramic and glass dinnerware to compliment every meal. Served on a pure white plate, painted with a simple leaf or flower, a humble supper becomes an extraordinary experience of line, light, color, flavor, aroma and textures.
A little background information:
As a student in Fine Art, I originally specialized in oils and watercolors, painting hundreds of traditional canvas paintings. However, my mentor and professor, Dr. Robert Winter, the President of the World Archeology Foundation, introduced me to the simple delights of ancient art. During an archeological trip to Sicily to explore ancient cave paintings and frescos, I found painted pottery sherds brought from over from the Greeks, and realized that the precise detail they achieved was created by painting rather than glazing.
The experience left me eager to seek out new mediums for my work, and ceramics and glass became my new canvas. Like the Greeks, I believe that the humble act of eating and drinking should be made as beautiful and sensual as possible. I help you elevate your meal to the next level by allowing you to serve your consciously prepared food and wine on platters, goblets, and plates of functional art.
The most rewarding part of working with everyday items is that so many more people can appreciate them. I’m able to place my painted dinner and glass works in more homes than I ever could have dreamed for my oil paintings. Having created entire lines of dinnerware for homes in 12 different countries, I like to think of myself as being a guest at dinner parties around the world.
Cheers to artful living everyday!"

Time stopped but water still moves

"Yesterday I had a photoshoot which was really important for me. Why ? Because it was really long to put in place and organise. I had the ideas a long time ago and only decided to took the pictures lately. I must admit I was a little bit afraid of an epic fail in realising a huge idea as this photoshoot was. But at the end, I'm really happy of the result because, at the end, I got what I had in mind and that's just a feeling I love and try to always have.
The serie was inspired by paintings. In particular John Everett Millais's "Ophélia" (1851-1852) and Herbert Draper's "Lamia" (1909).

Also, I need to tell you that I'll be on holiday from tomorrow for one month and half in Italy. Unfortunately, the internet down there is too slow to upload pictures. Anyway, I'll try to do it but I think it won't worked, so I prefer to notify you because I don't want you to think I leave flickr or anything. I'll continue to watch your pictures, comment, etc. but it'll be more occasionally. I'll answer emails though ! So you can still email me at -> benjamin.photography[AT]hotmail[DOT]com

I took three dolls with me to take pictures, Chanel, Elly and my lati !

See you soon and have awesome holidays for those who have some !

P.s: I'll show you the rest of the serie during the holidays (if I can upload them from Italy or when I'll come back).
Dedicated to Nattalie because I deleted the previous picture for some reasons."

I enjoy showing my craft to my Etsy friends and knowing that on your special occasion you will be wearing an original handmade by Labelle corset!
Welcome brides! burlesque stars! and any ladies with a romantic heart...
~ Come... up through the winding trail, and nestled high on the hillside you may chance to see the smoke from the chimney of a hand built log cottage where inside sits pretty little La Belle Fairy in her upstairs atelier.
Satin ribbons, vintage laces, appliques, silks, and coutil abound in her studio, waiting to be constructed into magickal garments for ladies far and wide!
~ I love to imagine my clothing and corsets worn throughout the world, making ladies feel special and sassy!
~ I am a successful corsetiere that has been creating corsets for over 9 years.
I have sewn corsets and historic clothing for Fort Steele heritage Town, theater productions , dance troupes , the Canadian Museum of Rail, library displays, many music festivals, and a secret celebrity clientele. Shhh!
I have shipped corsets to Australia, Africa, Texas, New York, Alaska, Ireland, England,Illinois, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Canada, New York, Chicago, California, Finland, Malibu, Manitoba, Honolulu , Vienna, The isle of whyte, Malta, Venice, Medicine Hat and soon to you"

Stormy Landscape. 9x6.
"Hello and thanks for having a look.
I love making photographs and have been actively engaged in the process for 15 years. I am lucky enough to live in a very picturesque part of the UK and the images are a reflection of the fabric and consistency of that landscape.
Also all the walking helps fight the flab."

crafts 2 love

Pink Felted Rose Brooch
"I am a mom to 4 kids (all boys except 3): Mel 12, Vik 10, Jazi 6 and Niki 5. I love the fact that I am a stay at home mom now and I am trying to stretch these wonderful years by making some of our clothes and bringing in a little extra income through my hobby - felt making. Actually I don't just make felt flowers or scarves - I make felted items starting from virgin, often not dyed wool. I like working with different fibers and colors and all my items reflect that.
I am a Christian and have served as a missionary before settling here. My husband still has a thriving ministry in children's hospitals and I pray to be a support he needs me to be always."
